Cargo acceptance and lodgement requirements

When presenting cargo at an Air New Zealand Cargo facility, customers, agents, transport providers and drivers must meet the applicable acceptance, security and documentation requirements.

For known cargo, additional requirements apply to confirm that the driver is authorised by the relevant Regulated Air Cargo Agent (RACA) to tender the cargo.

Cargo that does not meet these requirements may be delayed or may not be accepted as known cargo until the required information can be provided and verified.

Lodging known cargo

When presenting known cargo to Air New Zealand Cargo, the driver must:

Be authorised by the relevant Regulated Air Cargo Agent (RACA) to tender known cargo on its behalf.

Be able to provide evidence of that authorisation.

Present valid government-issued photo identification at the time of acceptance.

Acceptable photo identification includes:

-NZ Driver Licence

-CAANZ-issued ID

-Passport

How driver authorisation can be demonstrated

Driver authorisation may be demonstrated through one of the following:

-A Security Declaration identifying the authorised driver and relevant   RACA/security details

-An authorised driver list

-A letter of authorisation

-A RACA-issued ID

The Security Declaration is one way of demonstrating driver authorisation and is not mandatory.

Our Cargo Acceptance Team will verify the driver's identity against the authorisation information provided and the photo identification presented.

Photo identification alone is not sufficient to confirm that a driver is authorised by a RACA to tender known cargo.

If the required authorisation or identification cannot be provided or verified, the shipment will not be accepted as known cargo until the requirements have been met.

RACAs are responsible for ensuring their employees, authorised drivers and transport providers understand and meet these requirements. Where transport is contracted or outsourced, the RACA should ensure the relevant third-party transport provider is also aware of the requirements.

Export ULD Certificate requirements

Cargo presented in a Unit Load Device (ULD) must be accompanied by a fully completed Export ULD Certificate.

The certificate must:

Include full and accurate details of the ULD being tendered.

Include the individual weight of each ULD.

Correspond with the ULD or ULDs being presented.

Align with the applicable weight stated on the Air Waybill.

Missing, incomplete or inconsistent documentation may result in the shipment being delayed or not accepted until the discrepancy has been resolved.

Before arriving at the cargo terminal

Before presenting cargo for acceptance, please ensure:

The required security and shipment documentation is complete.

Drivers presenting known cargo are authorised by the relevant RACA.

The Security Declaration identifies each driver as an "AUTHORISED DRIVER" and includes their name and relevant RACA/security details.

The driver has valid government-issued photo identification.

A completed Export ULD Certificate is provided when cargo is presented in a ULD.

Meeting these requirements before arrival will help avoid delays during cargo acceptance.
