National cargo product and services FAQs
Below are answers to some of the most frequently asked questions to help you transition to our new national cargo product offering.
From 12 October 2026, we're simplifying our domestic cargo offer around two established products that you already know and value:
· Fly It fast
· Fly It for you
Fly It firm and Fly It will no longer be available for sale from this date.
By focusing on two products, we can concentrate on delivering a more consistent experience for our customers while retaining the speed and reach of our national network.
Customers have told us they value the speed and reach of our national network and the services they use today, while also telling us how important certainty, clear communication and a consistent experience are.
By simplifying our offer of two established products, Fly It fast and Fly It for You, we can concentrate on delivering what customers value most while improving the overall consistency of the experience.
From 12 October 2026
From 12 October 2026, Fly It fast and Fly It for you will be the only domestic cargo products available for new bookings.
Our premium domestic cargo product for eligible shipments where timing matters.
It provides:
· Later lodgement
· Earlier collection
· Faster terminal processing
Fly it fast is subject to cargo eligibility and operational requirements.
Our national cargo product for freight moving within standard or commodity-specific lodgement, collection and handling requirements.
It includes both general cargo and freight requiring additional documentation, compliance checks, security screening, or specialist handling.
For non-account customers, general cargo needs to continue being booked under "Fly It fast"
Yes. Fly It for you is available to both customers with and without a cargo account.
However, for non-account customers, general cargo needs to continue being booked under "Fly It fast"
Other eligible commodities may still be booked using Fly It for a you, subject to the applicable product and handling requirements.
Yes. Lodgement and cut-off times will vary depending on the product, departure port, commodity, customer type (Known/Unknown), security screening requirements, and handling needs.
Fly It Fast
Fly It for You
Yes. Collection times will vary depending on the product selected, whether you are a Known or Unknown Customer, and whether the shipment is tendered as Known or Unknown Cargo.
Fly It Fast
Known customer and or known cargo will be available 60 minutes after the flight's actual arrival time.
Unknown customers and or unknown cargo will be available 90 minutes after the flight's actual arrival time.
Fly It for you
Known customer and or known cargo will be available 90 minutes after the flight's actual arrival time.
Unknown customers and or unknown cargo will be available 120 minutes after the flight's actual arrival time.
Known Customer' to Air New Zealand Cargo is an agent, freight forwarder or any other entity that conducts business with National Cargo whilst providing security controls that are accepted or required by the appropriate authority in respect of cargo, courier and express parcels or mail. Known Customers have completed Air New Zealand Cargo's Known Customer requirements. This means eligible shipments may be treated as Known Cargo and may not require additional screening.
Acceptance and collection times therefore differ depending on whether the shipment is treated as Known or Unknown Cargo. Unknown Cargo may require additional security controls and processing, so additional time is required for acceptance and collection.
For existing bookings that have been booked under the old product types, these will continue to be accepted and shipped under the old product specifications. Providing continues to travel prior to the 12 October 2026.
If the original booking was made before 12 October 2026 for travel before that date, and the customer later changes the travel date to 12 October 2026 or after, In this situation, we will honor the rate agreed at the time of your original booking for 14 day post 12 October 2026. Please contact your Account Manager, who will arrange the required update for you.
Fly It and Fly It firm will no longer be available for travel on or after 12 October 2026.
If you change an existing booking to a travel date on or after 12 October 2026, you will need to select either Fly It fast or Fly It for you before you can complete the change.
If you try to continue without selecting one of the available products, you will see the following error message:

Existing templates will not automatically update. You will need to open the template, update the product to the correct available option, and save the updated template.
You do not need to create a new template from scratch. Simply:
If you have a bulk booking template saved to your desktop or a shared folder that includes Fly It or Fly It Firm, you will need to update the file before using it for any new bookings.
As part of the new national product proposition, Fly It Firm and Fly It will be retired.
Going forward, customers will choose between Fly It Fast and Fly It for you, depending on their shipment needs.
No. You'll continue using the same self-service booking portal and booking process. The only difference is that from the transition date you'll see two product options rather than four.

Cargo acceptance times vary depending on the product service level, port operating hours and any commodity-specific handling requirements. For full details, see our Products and Services guide.
Please allow plenty of time before the acceptance cut-off to ensure your paperwork and payment can be completed.
Cargo delivery times after aircraft arrival are also determined by the product service level and can be found here.
You will need to pay for your shipment when dropping your cargo off to be delivered. We only accept eftpos or credit card at time of presentation. If you are looking to send cargo with us on a regular basis, please contact us to discuss opening an account.
Unfortunately, no. Air New Zealand National Cargo offers an airport to airport service, meaning that you would need to organize pick up and drop off to and from the airport yourself.
Air New Zealand National Cargo has a special next flight service designed specifically for urgent shipments. If you wish to choose a specific flight for your cargo to travel on Fly It Fast is the fastest, airport-to-airport service on the market.
